Prebiotics & Probiotics

The microbiome's allies. Prebiotics and probiotics nourish and rebalance the skin's flora, the invisible community that protects skin and makes it less reactive.

The portrait of a new generation of soothing actives, at the heart of our Sensitive line.

Did you know?A little history

In 1907, Nobel laureate Élie Metchnikoff attributed the longevity of Bulgarian peasants to the yogurt they ate: probiotics entered science.

It took a century to understand that skin, too, hosts an ecosystem: billions of bacteria, yeasts and viruses that form the skin microbiome. The Human Microbiome Project, launched in 2007, revealed its role in the skin's defense, hydration and calm1.

Yon-Ka built this discovery into the Sensitive line with the Sensibiotic complex, which combines prebiotics, probiotics and chamomile.

General useThe microbiome, a second skin

Healthy skin is covered by a balanced flora that occupies the terrain, produces acids that maintain pH, and communicates with the immune system. When this flora is depleted by stress, pollution or harsh cleansers, skin becomes reactive, dry and redness-prone1.

Prebiotics feed beneficial bacteria; probiotics, as lysates, send the skin calming signals and strengthen its barrier2.

No live bacteria in a jar of cream: stability and safety rules don't allow it. Cosmetic "probiotics" are lysates, inactivated fragments that keep their benefits.

Cosmetic useTheir properties on skin

  • SoothingProbiotic lysates reduce skin reactivity and feelings of discomfort2.
  • StrengtheningThey stimulate the synthesis of barrier lipids and proteins.
  • Anti-rednessBy calming inflammation, they reduce diffuse redness.
  • RebalancingPrebiotics promote a diverse, protective flora1.
  • HydratingA stronger barrier holds water better.
  • DesensitizingUsed as a course, skin better tolerates external aggressors.

The Yon-Ka approach

Nourish rather than disinfect. The Sensitive line starts from the idea that reactive skin is skin whose ecosystem has been thrown off balance: we restore it with prebiotics, soothe it with probiotics, and surround it all with calming plants.

The science of the active, the sensoriality of the plant.

How to useAdding them to your ritual

  1. Morning and evening
Sensitive Creme after Lotion Yon-Ka PS, pressing gently without rubbing.
  2. When redness flares
Sensitive Creme Anti-Red, alone or under Sensitive Creme, on affected areas.
  3. Over time
The microbiome rebalances in about 4 weeks: reactivity gradually decreases.

Good to knowStorage and precautions

As lysates, probiotics are stable. Close your jars tightly and avoid getting water in them.

Very well tolerated, designed for the most reactive skin, with no known contraindications, including during pregnancy. Lactobacillus lysates contain no lactose or milk proteins.
