Did you know?A little history

In Asia, legend has it that wounded tigers roll in centella asiatica to heal their wounds faster: hence its nickname, "tiger herb."

Used for millennia in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine to heal wounds and fortify the skin, it entered Western pharmacopoeia in the 20th century, when researchers isolated its triterpene saponins and demonstrated their action on healing and microcirculation1.

Today it's one of the most documented anti-redness actives, which Yon-Ka chose for Sensitive Creme Anti-Red.

General useRedness and microcirculation

Diffuse redness often comes from weakened microcirculation: the small blood vessels under the skin dilate too easily, triggered by cold, heat, emotions or genetics. Centella asiatica works directly on this mechanism by strengthening the structure of vessel walls2.

Two-speed action: centella asiatica calms immediate redness and, with regular use, lastingly strengthens vessel resistance to limit flare-ups.

Cosmetic useIts properties on skin

  • Anti-rednessIt supports the walls of small blood vessels and reduces the visibility of redness2.
  • HealingIts saponins stimulate collagen synthesis and speed skin repair1.
  • SoothingIt calms feelings of heat and discomfort in reactive skin.
  • RepairingIt supports rebuilding the barrier of weakened skin.
  • AntioxidantIts compounds protect skin from oxidative stress.
  • StrengtheningWith regular use, it lastingly improves the resilience of the skin's microcirculation.
