How to Keep Your Skin Fresh When You Travel

How to Keep Your Skin Fresh When You Travel
Jet setters know that with all those frequent flyer miles, pretty places and envy-evoking Insta pics can come breakouts, dry skin and redness. But battling the skin woes of traveling are a lot easier than you think. Follow these tips on how to keep your skin fresh when you travel and you can forget the filter on your next getaway.

Travel Light

Wearing heavy makeup on a plane can worsen your skin’s reaction to the lack of humidity and recycled air. Instead of boarding full faced, prep your skin for flight with a hydrating serum like the HYDRA N°1 Serum. The hyaluronic acid will help lock in moisture that can be lost on long flights, while the antioxidants and soothing aloe vera will ward off redness and irritation. If being seen without makeup is out of the question opt for a tinted moisturizer, which will give you a little color and coverage without dehydrating your skin further.

Rack Up Some R&R

If your flight is taking you to a new time zone it’s important to bring some balance to your body before you land. Aromatherapy is a natural way to calm nerves and aid in relaxation so that you can get some sleep in the air. I’m all about multitasking products (especially when on the go) so I fill up a little 1 oz bottle with Huile Corps to throw in my carry on. Infused with rosemary, sage and lavender this body oil blend is ideal for inducing snoozing and keeping your hands and arms nice and moisturized. I’ll even massage a little on my temples and scalp to help me zone out.

Skip the Libations

While putting on your headphones and chilling out with a glass of wine might sound like blissful serenity, alcohol should not be your beverage of choice when traveling. Even when you’re not 30,000 feet above ground, alcohol can wreak havoc on skin leaving it oily and flushed. Add in the moisture-sucking air on planes and it’s no wonder why you arrive at your destination with pink, parched skin. Sip on water instead which will keep your skin and body hydrated and happy.

Land Lovely

What you do when you get off the plane is as important as what you do on. Find ways to reboot yourself so that you can be productive and pleasant on your trip. Try going for a walk to soak up some sun and let your body get accustomed to its new environment. Booking a relaxing massage can also help you unwind and work out any kinks or tension you might have taken on from flying (those neck pillows don’t always do the trick!).

Keep Your Skincare Consistent

Don’t let the hassle of packing your products deter you from maintaining your skincare routine when you travel. Picking up those drugstore minis can be tempting but the last thing your skin needs now is the introduction of new ingredients. Splurge on travel-size versions of your daily essentials or buy a few TSA approved containers to fill with your favorite liquids and creams.
