"Ros marinus," dew of the sea: the Romans named it this because it grows along the Mediterranean, where sea spray waters it.

The Greeks wove it into crowns to boost students' memory, the Egyptians placed it in tombs, and in the Middle Ages it was burned to purify hospital air. Hungary Water, the first alcohol-based toilet water in history in the 14th century, was made with rosemary.

At Yon-Ka, it has been there since 1954 as one of the five essential oils of the Quintessence, and later as an active extract at the heart of the Phyto line dedicated to firmness.

In the kitchen, it flavors grilled dishes and oils. In herbal medicine, its leaves are traditionally used for digestion and circulation. Research focuses mainly on its polyphenols, rosmarinic acid and carnosic acid, among the most effective plant antioxidants known, so much so that rosemary extract is used as a natural preservative in the food industry^1,2.

Two forms, two roles. You can tell them apart in our INCI lists by the word Extract or Oil.

• Firming creams for face, neck and bust;

• Toning lotions, via the Quintessence.

1. At night, with massage
   Phyto 58 or Phyto 52 on cleansed, misted skin, with upward strokes from the neck to the forehead to activate circulation.
2. The eye area in the morning
   Phyto-Contour kept in the fridge, pressed from the inner to the outer corner of the eye to reduce puffiness.
3. The body
   Huile Silhouette after the shower, massaged in circles over target areas, after Gommage Doux Silhouette once a week.

The extract is stable; the essential oil is volatile and light-sensitive: close your bottles tightly and store them away from heat.

Very well tolerated at cosmetic doses. Rosemary essential oil contains camphor and limonene, which are declared in our INCI lists in accordance with regulations³. As a precaution, treatments rich in essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding without medical advice. On very reactive skin, patch test behind the ear first.
