The European beech (Fagus sylvatica) is the emblematic tree of Europe's temperate forests. Its buds are harvested in spring, just before they open.
How it's obtained
Gentle extraction of fresh buds, then standardization in peptides and amino acids.

0.5% to 3% extract depending on the treatment.

That growth power is the foundation of gemmotherapy, a branch of herbal medicine developed in Belgium in the 1960s by Dr. Pol Henry, which uses only the embryonic tissues of plants.

Beech has always been put to use: its wood heats and can be carved, its nuts once fed livestock, and its bark served as a writing surface (the English word book comes from beech).

In gemmotherapy, beech bud is traditionally associated with drainage and supporting the body's defenses. In skincare, it's valued for its richness in peptides and amino acids: the building blocks skin needs to regenerate.

Good to knowStorage and precautions

A stable plant extract, it keeps away from light and heat. Follow the period-after-opening guidance.

Very well tolerated, with no known contraindication for topical use, including during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with any plant extract, individual sensitivity is still possible: on very reactive skin, patch test behind the ear first.
